How to make money online in Kenya

There are many ways to make money on the internet in Kenya and i will just concentrate on a few:
1. Online advertising
If you have a website or a blog, this is the most common way of making money. It involves advertising for other websites or companies on your website. You can opt to run adverts manually or use online advertising services such as Google Adsense. The benefit of using third party advertising networks like Google Adsense is that you do not have to worry about where to get advertisers or how to price them. You simply paste a simple html code on web pages where you want to display adverts. The advertising network will parse your website for keywords and display adverts which match with your website content e.g. If your website talks about cars, adverts related to cars and car companies will be displayed on your website.
2. Article Writing
Currently, many Kenyans have memberships on websites which pay people to write content. Payment is usually done on per article basis or quality of the article.
3. Freelance Jobs
There are many freelance jobs available on the internet today. Most of them involve data entry, designing software applications as well as web designing.
Payment is usually made after successful completion of project.

I have also seen websites which offer adsense revenue sharing. Adsense revenue sharing works as follows: A website gets authority from google to offer adsense revenue sharing after meeting some minimum requirements. After that, website visitors are allowed to create adsense accounts through the website or associate their existing adsense accounts with the revenue sharing website. Google will approves the new applicants if they meet program entry requirements. Once approved, advertisements will be displayed on the content you post on the participating website and you earn money from the advertisements.

There is high potential for adsense in Kenya since the market is still unsaturated and more companies are currently advertisng through adwords programs. The amount you can earn varies depending on market niche you are covering on your site, content as well website popularity (which directly relates to website traffic). To earn good money through adsense, you need traffic and to get traffic you need to market your website. You can market your website online through pay per click, social networks as well as search engine marketing (SEM).

I agree with you Raphael. There are great opportunities for website owners in Kenya to make money online through google adsense. Many local and international companies are finding it very convenient to advertise online instead of using the traditional print media. This has seen tremendous growth in online money making opportunities in Kenya. When it comes to earning online from your website, Google Adsense is currently the best program because it pays well.

Hello guys. I am new to this online money making thing. I have a website although it is a bit new. I have been looking for ways to monetize it. A friend suggested that i try affiliate marketing. I joined a number of affiliates and i am not seeing any good results. My question is, does affiliate marketing work in Kenya? If not, which is the best way of monetizing a website here in Kenya?

Hello Otieno, if one online money making program does not work for you, i would advise that you don't give up but instead try another way of monetizing. I have seen many website make good money through Google Adsense Program. These websites are making little income through affiliate programs.
My advise is that you try Google Adsense Program as it is a sure way of monetizing your website and the good thing is that your earnings grow gradually as your website grows. The growth rate is always positive as long as your website is active and you provide quality content.
My final word, Adsense works for Kenyan content.

@jsam.g, you can create a website by following simple tutorials available on the internet for free. After creating a website, you can monetize it through advertisement and benefit from the revenue. If you are not savvy enough to create own website, you can use blogger.com to create a website for free. What you want to do on your website is entirely your decision. However, the most important factor for any website success is traffic. Traffic refers to the people visiting your website. The more the traffic, the higher the potential of making money online.
