Railway Training Institute (RTI) offers the following courses in conjuction with Egerton University Faculty of Engineering and Technology

Entry Requirements
Bridging Course for Engineering Technicians' and Craft Part III Holders for admission into the Bachelor of Industrial Technology Degree Programme
Ten weeks full time with two weeks of examinations
Holders of Technical based Technician Part II/III or Final Craft Part III examined by Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) in the following areas: Mechanical Engineering) (Plant or Production Option), Fabrication and Welding, Automotive and Prime Movers, Medical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or any other equivalent qualification that may be acceptable by Egerton University Senate
Certificate Course in Computer Aided Drawing and Design/Computer Aided Manufacture
130 hours  (1 month) full time of intensive study coupled with practicals and final examinations
Meant for those working in manufacturing, computer, architectural, drawing and design fields and related fields with background in computer applications and Engineering Drawing. High school leavers with good grade and basic knowledge in computer applications and engineering will be considered
Bachelor of Industrial Technology
Two and half years coupled with Industrial Attachment and Industrial based research project
Meant for holders of Technical based diploma examined by Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) in the following areas: Mechanical Engineering (Plant or Production option), Fabrication and Welding, Automotive and Prime Movers, Medical Engineering, Chemical Engineering. Any other equivalent qualification that may be acceptable to Egerton University Senate
Degree in Bachelor of Industrial Technology (B.Ind Tech)
Two and half years coupled with industrial attachment and industrial based research project
Meant for holders of Technical based diploma examined by KNEC in the following areas:
  • Mechanical Engineering (Plant or Production Option)
  • Fabrication and Welding
  • Automotive and Prime Movers
  • Medical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
Any other equivalent qualification that may be acceptable to Egerton University Senate

I completed my K.C.S.E in the year 2009 and attained a meangrade of B-.Am interested in taking a diploma in mechanical engineering at Railways Training Institute.
