 Course Name
Minimum Entry Requirements
 B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Science
Mode of Study: Full time
  • The programme extends over a minimum of 3 calendar years
  • For an entrant with a diploma, the programme takes a minimum of 2 years
  • A minimum of 136 credits is required for graduation with a bachelors degree
  • A student must have completed all core courses of a programme and obtained a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher at the end of the programme
 KCSE mean grade of C+ and
  • Cluster 1 subjects: Chemistry C+, Mathematics C+, Biology C+, Physics C+, or
  • Cluster 2 subjects: Biological Sciences C+, Physical Sciences C+, Mathematics C+, or
  • Minimum aggregate of B for pre-university qualifications
  • Two principles or advanced level passes in Science subjects in KACE, one of which must be Biology or any other Sciences, or
  • Holders of a degree or a diploma in applied science with a credit pass in science from a recognized institution, or
  • Diploma in medical laboratory sciences/applied biology from a recognized university, or
  • Any other qualification that is considered equivalent to any of the above subjects to senate's approval
 Bachelor of Nursing
  • 1 year internship after training
  • The graduates are required by nursing council of Kenya to sit for licensing examination at a degree level
Duration: The programme extends over a minimum of two and half years full time. Distance learning mode takes 3 years
  •  KCSE minimum grade of C+ and
  1. Cluster 1. English, Math/Physics, Chemistry, Biology
  2. Cluster 2: Biological Sciences, Mathematics, English/Kiswahili
Upgrade:
  • Must be a Kenya registered nurse or its equivalent currently registered and standing with nursing council of Kenya
  • KCSE minimum of C or division 2 or its equivalent or KACE with two principle passes, one which must be Biology and a subsidiary
  • Should have worked a minimum of 2 years in a relevant health institution
 M.Sc. Health Systems Management
Duration: 2 calendar years on a trimester basis.
Each year has 3 semesters
Second year is dedicated to research
Mode of study: Full time, part time or distance learning
  •  B.Sc. in Medicine and Surgery or a Bachelors degree in a health related discipline, or
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification and 2 years working experience in the health sector, or
  • Be a holder of any other qualification acceptable by the senate as equivalent to the above
 B.Sc. Health Systems Management
Duration:
  • 3 calendar years on a trimestr basis
  • Students should take an assigned practical attachment in a selected health training or service institution
  • A research project on health system issue will completed prior to graduation
  •  Be a holder of a bachelor degree in health related discipline recognized by the university
  • Be a holder of a diploma in health related discipline recognized by the university, or
  • Be a holder of any other diploma or equivalent qualification recognized by the university and 2 years working experience in the health sector, or
  • KCSE mean grade C+ or its equivalent and have at least C+ in English/Kiswahili, Mathematics
 Diploma in Clinical Medicine, Surgery and Community Health
Mode of study: full time
Duration: 2 academic years
To graduate, a student requires a minimum of 70 credits . A student must have completed all the core courses and obtained a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher at the end of the programme
  •  KCSE mean grade C and a minimum of C in Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathemetics/Physics, or
  • Division 2 EACE with credit passes in English/Kiswahili, Biological Sciences, Mathematics/Physical Sciences, Geography, or
  • KACE with a minimum of one principle pass in Biology and a subsidiary pass in Chemistry, Mathematics/Physics, or
  • Holder of any other qualification accepted by the university senate as equivalent to any of the above
