INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES.
This paper contains TWO alternatives. A and B. Each alternative has two options. Choose only one option
from any one alternative.
This question paper will be given to you one hour before the start of the examination to enable your to make
your choice from the alternatives. During this one hour, you are allowed to make sketches on the A4 papers
provided to help you decide on your choice.
The use of rulers and other mechanical means is forbidden in alternative A but is allowed in alternative B.
Clearly write your name, index number, the alternative and the number of option chosen in that order on the
right-hand corner of unpainted 4 cm margin running across the bottom of the paper.
This paper consists of 2printed pages.
Candidates should check the question paper to ensure that all
pages are printed as indicated and no questions are missing.

Answer only ONE question chosen from EITHER alternative A or alternative B.
ALTERNATIVE A: DRAWING OR PAINTING
EITHER
1. A bare footed male adult dressed in shorts, vest and a hat is seated on the ground. His legs are crossed
and hands resting limply on the knees. The model is listening and watching in a happy mood.
OR
2. Create a pictorial composition in colour based on the theme “Auction of fowls at the market”.
ALTERNATIVE B: GRAPHICS
EITHER
3. Tropical Fruits Kenya Ltd is a new firm dealing processing and packaging of fruits for export and for
the local market. The firm requires a wrapper for their tin cans and a promotional advertisement for
their products.
a) Design in three colours the tin wrapper with a circumference of 25cm by 13cm high.
b) Design an illustrated newspaper advertisment incorporating a slogan to promote the products.
OR
4. a) Design a mouth watering front cover for a cookery book which specializes in recipes
of different tribes of Kenya. The title of the book is “The Dishes of the tribes of Kenya”
authored by Lion Simba and published by Suku Ltd. The working area should measure 40cm
by 30cm.
b) Using a suitable calligraphic script and illustration design a menu for a meal of your
choice. The working area should measure 30cm by 21cm.
