1."This would be our first home grown Marriage Act;the existing Marriage Act commenced in 1929 though it was revised in 1962.All other Acts that relate to marriages are also almost as old,with their commencement ranging from 1906 to 1929.All of them boast of revision in 1962".(Judy Thongori on the Draft Marriage Bill,2007).In any analytical manner,discuss the history of the marriage law regimes in Kenya to date.Is there need for reform?(30 marks)

2.Anne Campbell,an Anglican Christian from Yorkshire,England has fallen madly in love with Abdullah bin Joho,a handsome young man from the Kenyan coastal city of Mombasa.They wish to marry each other.Advise Ann on the implications of her decision,including her religious status,her rights and duties as a Muslim wife should they get married and the procedures of obtaining a divorce in the event that one day the marriage breaks down. (20 marks)

3.The Kenya Law Reform Commission is in the process of reforming the Marriage Law in Kenya.They are calling on you as one of the building experts in family law to advise them on the concepts of void and voidable marriages in Kenya.Arming yourself with relevant provisions and case law on the concepts,kindly turn up and advise the Commission appropriately. (20 marks)

4."There is a huge lacuna in the area of matrimonial property law in Kenya today.We need to address it".(Kathurima M'Inoti,chairman,Kenya Law Reform Commission).Citing relevant case law,analyze the development of the law governing matrimonial property in Kenya today,pointing out areas in need of reform,if any. (20 marks)

5.The Children's Act,Act No.8 of 2001,is a great milestone in Kenya's legislative history.Discuss the principles of this Act and why you think it is a milestone in Kenya's legislative history. (20 marks)
