Either
1. (a) Write a Story beginning.

(b) Write a story that illustrates the saying:
“As you make your bed, so you must lie in it”.
2. The Compulsory set text. (20 Marks)
Coming to Birth by Marjorie Oludhe Macgoye.
Most male characters are portrayed negatively in the novel, “Coming to Birth”
Write an essay to prove this assertion.
3. (a) The short story: (20 Marks)
Half a Day and other stories
Using illustrations from Moyez G. Vassanji’s
‘Breaking Loose’ write a composition explaining the significance of the title to the story.
Or
(b) Shreds of Tenderness by John Ruganda.
Odie is the villain in John Ruganda’s ‘Shreds of Tenderness.’
Write an essay arguing for this statement.
Or
(c) Homestretch by Velma Pollard.
Write an essay explaining the problems Brenda encountered outside Jamaica and the
solutions she came up with to solve these problems.
