A bag contains 6 marbles - 3 red, 2 black and 1 green. Two marbles are drawn at random without replacement.

Required
What is the probability that:
a. The drawn marbles are 1 red and 1 black
b. The first is green and the second is black
c. The second is red if the first is green

Question 2
What is the total number of civilian motor vehicles expected to have been registered with current registration series in Kenya i.e from KAA 001A to KZZ 999Z?

Restrictions:
i. All letters begin with K
ii. Letters I and O are not acceptable as letters
iii. Series KAF is not civilian
iv. Series 000 is not allowed.

A briefcase has 6 sets of locks each numbered from 0 to 9. The owner has a secret code (combination) for unlocking it. The briefcase gets stolen. What are the chances of the thief opening it on the;
i. 1st trial
ii. 10th trial

Question 4
In how many ways can a committee of 4 people be selected from 10 if 3 of them, the chairman, secretary and treasurer must always be included?

Question 5
a hardware storekeeper sells rains which he mixes himself to get the right colours. If we assume that by mixing 2 of the basic paints he always gets a colour different to any of the colours, how many basic paints must he stock to be able to offer a range of thirty-six different shades?

Note: Any one of the basic paints counts as one different shade on the thirty-six required.

In a class of 110 students there are as many female as male students while the number of students who are over 25 years in age are 65. Further the number of female students who are over 25 years are 30. A student is picked at random. What is the probability that such a student is female or over 25 years in age?

Question 7
If a fair coin is tossed twice, determine the following probability
a. Exactly two heads
b. Exactly one tail
c. Exactly two tails

Question 8
A bag contains ten marbles which can be described by colour and whether it is numbered or lettered as follows:

4 are white (W) and lettered (L)
2 are white (W) and numbered (N)
3 are yellow (Y) and lettered (L)
1 is yellow (Y) and numbered (N)

One marble is randomly drawn from the bag and it is found to be yellow. What is the probability that it is lettered i.e P(L/Y)?

Use Bayes' theorem to evaluate the following conditional probability: P(N/W)
