It is sometimes claimed that “good” employment relations is an elusive concept because
each party with interests in the field wants different things from it.
(a) Describe the parties with interests in “good” employment relations.

(d) Discuss THREE types of union security that are within the labour movement.

e) “Collective bargaining is a complex process, with a variety of outcomes and
bargaining levels´.
(i) Define “collective bargaining” and explain the conditions necessary for
effective collective bargaining to take place. (5 marks).
(ii) Briefly examine the distributive and integrative bargaining sub-processes.

Trade Unions (C.O.T.U) Dispute Commission set up specific policies to guide the
work relations in organizations. Discuss the policy areas put forth by the

c) What does the term “union jurisdiction” mean? Using practical examples, explain

a) Conflict process entails four stages. Highlight each of the stages (clearly
examining what happens at each stage. (8 marks).
b) “Some managers believe that the presence of trade unions lead to positive
improvement in Industrial Relations. Others strive top prevent trade unions from
gaining a foothold among employees”. Give reasonable account to your view on
this issue. (7 marks).
