SECTION A: (30 MARKS)

1. Briefly describe three (3) multidimensional attributes of tourism studies. [6 marks]

2. Discuss the concept of tourism, clearly defining the main features according to Ghosh (2000). [6 marks]

3. Define the following terms:

(i) Recreational tourism
(ii) Interregional tourism
(iii) Ecotourism
(iv) Hospitality services
(v) Limited Service Hotel [5 marks]

4. Discuss briefly three (3) drivers of change that influence productivity in relation to hospitality in the food sector. [5 marks]

5. Outline briefly the organization of hotels, showing an overview of different classification of hotels. [4 marks]

6. List the elements of hospitality operations. [3 marks]



SECTION B: (40 MARKS)


7. Discuss the range of organizations that comprise the hospitality industry, clearly showing the different segments and outlining their importance in the provision of hospitality services. [20 marks]


8. Evaluate the trends and issues in the food and beverage industry. [20 marks]


9. (i) Describe ten (10) contributions of tourism to the economy. [10 marks]

(ii) Outline the social-cultural effects of tourism at the destination. [10 marks]

10. Discuss different forms of tourism. [20 marks]
