b). Words are very important in linguistic knowledge and constitute a component of our mental
lexicon. Justify this with an example. (4marks)

c).Languages make an important distinction between two kinds of words: content words and
function words. With examples, distinguish the above. (6marks)

d). Knowledge of morphology includes knowledge of morphemes, their pronunciation, and their
meaning, and knowledge of the rules for combining morphemes into complex words.

2a).Suppose you had no knowledge at all in a certain language and were a linguist wishing to
analyze the language. Suggest and explain any four possible ways you would use to
determine the morphemes of that language. (8marks)
