If the RDA table shows that a person’s daily RDA of energy is 10MJ, and the portion
size of the daily total diet is made up of the following 100% pure nutrients.
Protein 65g
Lipids 95g
Carbohydrates 311g
And it is decided that mackerel is to feature in the days menu to provide all the RDA
of protein(65 gms)

100gms of mackerel contains 19gms of protein

Calculate;

b)
Amount of mackerel needed to meet the protein RDA

c)
If the lipid contain of this 100gm of mackerel is 12gms; calculate the amount

of lipid obtained from the portion of mackerel above.

d)
Explain how the above individual can meet the extra energy needed to meet

the RDA without compromising the other RDA’s of the nutrients. [3 marks]
