This examination paper is divided into Sections A, Band C.
Answer a total of THREE questions, one from each Section.
Section A:

Justify the inclusion of History of Education in teacher education programmes.

Using relevant examples from ancient Egyptian and Greek educational systems, show how modem education can be described as either more or less advanced.

Critically assess the contribution oflslamic scholarship to modem education, science and technology.

Section B:

Compare and contrast the main features of African education with those of formal western education introduced in Africa by the colonial agents .

Q5.
Outline the major characteristics and differences between British and French colonial educational policies in Africa.

Q6.
Critically discuss the view that educational reforms in post-colonial Africa have influenced as much by foreign factors as by internal factors.

Section C:

Outline the changing role(s) that Africans played in the development of their own education in Kenya during the colonial period in Kenya.

Using the colonial and post-colonial periods, discuss the role politics has played in the development of education in Kenya.

Q9.
Identify the challenges that the "massification" of higher education poses for educational development in Kenya today.
