INSTRUCTIONS:
This paper is divided into three Sections A, B, and C. Answer THREE questions, ONE
from each Section.
SECTION A
1.
Discuss the definition, aims and purpose of comparative education in your country. Illustrate your answer with specific examples.

2.
The development of comparative education may be studied in phases or stages.
a)
Name four phases based on major activities of each phase.
b)
Elaborate on the first phase, which you have named in (a) above.

There are many debates that have characterized methodology in comparative education. Using one of the convectional methods in comparative education that you have studied discuss how you can investigate a case of poor performance in public examinations in secondary school education in Kenya today.


SECTION B

With reference to any two countries of your choice that differ in their political ideology, critically discuss the statement that “politics rule education”.

5.
“The French education system is highly intellectual”. Outline and discuss factors contributing to this situation.

6.
Discuss the salient features of the system of education in Japan since the end of the Second World War in 1945.

SECTION C
7.
Identify and discuss important factors that have influenced the development of higher education in Africa since 1960.

8.
Critically discuss the view that “brain drain is not necessarily a bad thing in the current global village”.

9.
Discuss at least three universal factors that are likely to affect the education and training of teachers in any one country of your choice.
