Chepkoech wanted to buy a 2 kg tin of cooking fact, 2 kg packet of maize meal and a 1/2 kg packet of tea leaves. The shopkeeper had 2 kg packets of maize meal, only 1 kg tin of cooking fat and only 100g packet of tea leaves. How much more did she pay for her 2 kg cooking fat, 2 kg of maize neck and 1/2 kg tea leaves?

3 onions for sh. 2
1 banana for sh. 2
10 potatoes for sh. 5

3/4 kg salt @ sh. 30 per kg
2 kg packets of rice for sh. 70
2 bottles of juice @ sh. 70

What balance did he receive if he paid for the items using a 500 shillings note?

8. A vendor kept money in a box and a tin.
In the box there were:
15 ten shillings coins
23 twenty shillings coins
36 five shillings coins.

In the tin, there was an equal number of ten shillings and five shillings coins but no twenty shillings coins. The total amount of money in both the tin and the box was sh. 1000. How many five shillings coins were there in the tin?
