Answer ALL Questions from Section I and any two Questions from Section II.


SECTION I "PRACTICALS" (30 MARKS)

The following sentences will be signed to you by the examiner one by one. After each sentence there will be a pause to allow you to write down the signed sentence. Each sentence will be signed twice. (7 sentences, each 2 points)

The following sentences will be fingerspelled to you by the examiner one by one. After each sentence there will be a pause to allow you to write down the fingerspelt sentence. Each sentence will be fingerspelt twice.

SECTION II (40 MARKS)

Discuss the challenges that brought about the emergence of "Total Communication" from the 18th century to date pointing out how education for children with hearing impairment has been influenced with particular reference to Kenya. (20 marks)

Learning and using sign language is very crucial while working with learners who have hearing impairment. Describe factors that you would consider important when using sign language. (20 marks)

7.
Explain the rationale in teaching simultaneous method of communication to learners with hearing impairment. (20 marks)

8.
Manual communication can retard language development of children with hearing impairment. Discuss. (20 marks)
