1. Define the following terms:
i. Orbital
ii. Isotopes (2mks)

2. State the three postulates of Bohr atomic theory of 1913 (3mks)

3. Give the observations recorded by E. Rutherford in his alpha particle scattering experiment. Explain these observations. (5mks)

4. Calculate the de Broglie wavelength of an electron moving with a velocity of 1.20 x 10 m/s. (4mks)

5. A sample of Sodium nitrate weighs 0.38g is placed in a 50.0 ml volumetric flask, the flask is them filled with water to the mark on the neck. What is the molarity of the resulting solution? (2mks)

6. State the Aufbau principle and draw the schematic structure for the arrangement of electrons in atomic orbitals. (3mks)

7. Consider the elements with atomic numbers 9, 17, 27 and 52.
i. Write the electronic configuration of these elements. (4mks)
ii. Identify the group and period each of the elements with atomic numbers 9, 27 belong to. (2mks)

8. Draw the shapes of the 3d orbitals. (5mks)
