1.a) Describe how rehearsal of an audio programme is done using the story boarding
technique. (5 marks)

b) How can one create a multimodal learning experience when using audiovisual
media? (4 marks)
c) Differentiate between technology in education and technology of education.(4 marks)

d) Some audiovisual media such as films and television recordings have a ‘Placebo Effect’ on learners. Why is that so? (5 marks)

e) Ability to read and interprete visuals begins with differentiation and
proceeds through integration. Explain. (6 marks)

f) List the strengths and weaknesses of communication models. (6 marks)

2. One reason for advocating the use of audiovisual aids in teaching and learning
is because language has limitations.
a) Explain with examples at least four of those limitations. (8 marks)

b) Dale’s ‘Cone of Experience’ also suggests for the merging of three
experiences because of the abstractness of words (language). Discuss
Dale’s three stages (experiences) of the cone. (12 marks)

3. A script for an audio recording must be spoken not read.
a) Give the reasons for the above. (6 marks)
b) Outline some characteristics of a good radio lesson. (14 marks)

4. Multichannel learning is in consonance with the 1948 Universals Declaration
of Human Rights that guarantees equality of access to education for all (EFA).
It concerns itself with the ‘Third Channel’.
a) What are these learning modes that constitute the ‘Third Channel? (6 marks)
b) What are the tenets (beliefs) behind Education For All (EFA)? (4 marks)
c) Discuss the reasons that served as the impetus for multichannel learning idea.
(10 marks)

5. a) Two considerations that have influenced the use of audiovisual media
in teaching and learning are:
- The need to increase the effectiveness of instructions;
- The need to disseminate urgently needed knowledge faster.
Elaborate further on these two considerations. (10 marks)

b) The history of Educational Technology in Africa nonetheless is
replete with stories of unsatisfactory results.
Enumerate and discuss the reasons for the unsatisfactory results. (10 marks)
