A pattern of a boy’s shirt is provided. You are advised to study the sketches, instructions and layout carefully before you begin the test.
MATERIALS PROVIDED
1. Pattern pieces:
a) A-Shirt front with facing
b) B-shirt back
c) C-Collar
d) D-Pocket
e) E-sleeve
N/B: Interfacing for the collar should be cut from the same fabric using the collar pattern
2. Light weight plain cotton fabric 45cm long by 90cm wide
3. Sewing thread to match the fabric
4. One large envelope

THE TEST
Using the materials provided, cut out and make the LEFT HALF of the shirt to show the following process.
a) Making of the machine fell seam at the shoulder
b) Making the side seam using an open seam
c) Neatening of the facing
d) Preparation of an interfaced collar
e) Attachment of the collar
f) Prepare and set in the sleeve
g) Management of the hem using hemming stitches (shirt front only)
h) Making of a button hole by hand
i) Prepare and attach the patch pocket
At the end of the examination, firming sew out your work, on a single fabric, a label bearing your name and index number. Remove the needle and pins from your work, then fold your work neatly and put scraps of fabric in the envelope.
