1a) Read the following excerpt carefully, reword it using your own words and supply an appropriate title. (15 marks)
We have heard about him, and easily recognized his name-Juliani. Otherwise known as Julius Owino, he has become famous for his three-metre high jumps and somewhat violent hair-swaying technique on stage (what rockers would call head-banging)
Juliani is one of those famous artistes who have a different and unique understanding of the Bible and appropriate to the music. Do you remember this phrase: ''chumvi kwa chai na chakula kwa sukar. ''It is a parable - chorus. How about Bahasha ya Ocampo na Exponential Potential, which lyrically and melodically advocate its own people.
Honestly and musically speaking, the creativity behind Juliani''s composition in this song in terms of lyrics and performance needs a ''musical microscope'' to watch. You know what?
Listen to his genre of music-hip hop - and the flow of his lyrics from bar one to the end. Trust my word that you might end up floating but still nod your head-if not keen, that is. Allow me to compare him with Jesus of Nazareth at this point who spoke in parables but still meant well, thereby driving the message home.
His rap starts ''walitudharau...ahahaha how .... Who''s is laughing now? He asks ''How come doughnut ina shimo? Zero zilitoka wapi? Result slip haitambui pay slip...'' as he continues in rhythm and concentrated beats in semiquaver guitar notes. The song takes good melodic flow with a naturally mourning melody that explores life and the changes that happen to it.
