Law school is never easy. The hard concepts, the laws you need to grasp the tough rules. It is funny how everyone is attracted to hard things even when forewarned. I think it is the final pride of knowing that you can face tough times. In as much as it is the dream place for most of us, it may end up being a living nightmare in the long run. So how do you deal with this dream come true?

First relax. You are there now. You have to give your dream your all but you cannot run around without rules of engagement. Every lecturer is going around telling you how hard you have to work so as not to drop out et al. Sit down and think hard about what you want and how to relate to people these four years.

Define your boundaries. People need to know what you can take and what you cannot. Lawyers in the making can be very deceptive. There are those who will use you to get anything valuable; especially the much sought after lawyers' contacts if you have any. You cannot have friends in law school, just acquaintances.

Look for only relevant information. You will find myriads of books on a topic. Pick that which makes sense with regards to your current situation and let the rest go.

Aside from traditional studying methods, embracing online resources such as Online Legal Tests can be a great way to prepare for your exams and understand legal concepts better.

Contribute in class. Being a lawyer is about confidence, making people listen to you and being ready to listen to others. Speak out, you do not always have to be right, just opinionated. Shake off that throbbing feeling when you face many people. That is what confidence is all about.

Take

part in co-curriculurs. Do sports, attend legal workshops, join legal clubs. These give you a perspective on legal professions and what they entail. Engage in mentoring programs to let off the steam of daily living.

Have fun. Enjoy yourself through classes. Go out on weekends and let your hair down. Be outgoing, you need it.
