Politics has let us down

This is the year when Kenyans go to the ballot boxes once again. Just like the years before, we see great changes in the political arena. With a new constitution, it will be even more hot than the years before. The number of seats to be contested for are more, from presidency, seat of governor, senator, member of parliament, county Representative, to the representative of women and the youth. This however pose a challenge to the politicians who are unsure of which seat best suits them.

As the intellects prepare their resumes to win posts as Secretaries, the politicians are busy in logistics and statistics gauging which seat they have a possibility of winning. With the new laws, it is tricky for them as losing means going back home. However, it should not come out of our minds that they are the same politicians that we had before. The same characters and tricks will still be used. We should be keen of the same kind of lies we used to be blindfolded with.

The race has already began and we can see new political parties being formed, old ones being broken, coalitions, collisions and all kinds of political sagas emerging. The media is full of headlines of tribal groupings and political mergers being made. These must just raise our eye brows that the time of our fall is here again. They always make deals behind the curtains and then pretend to be enemies on stage. They divided us and went ahead to make partnerships and eat 'nyama choma' together.

We have been the fools who killed one another due to the divisions they brought among us. Our politicians are very cunning that they cry out how their communities have been oppressed just to cheat their tribesmen that they are with

them. I believe our politicians are the most dedicated in winning what they long for. They politicize on everything; just to get favor from the electorate. Right now they are busy planning how they will use the Hague case, Mau forest, corruption scandals to be their agenda in politicking. Every effort is made to corrupt the ears of the voters to side with them. In this season, they are going to mimic the highest level of humility in front of the voters.

They will turn up in funerals, fundraising ceremonies, and very many other meetings in the villages. These thieves of our monies will be there to console us ironically for our poverty. When they stole free primary education funds, they will cheat us how they will avail bursaries to our school going children. T

hey will take 2% of the farm inputs they stole from our agricultural stores and bring to us in mere pretense of their generosity. They will cry crocodile tears with us when we are bereaved.

They will distribute 50 shillings among us that we will use to get drunk with and the give all kinds of praises to them. Heaven will indeed be promised on earth. However, all these will be short lived. We will foolishly vote them in. Some will flop, incite us and then leave us to loot our own property, kill our brothers and leave others displaced from their homes.

It calls for a lot of wisdom to make our future bright. Our future lies in our hands and only wise voting will save our destiny. It is high time we come out of the cocoons and make harmony come to Kenya. Failing to vote is also very disastrous. Do not allow that whom you do not want to win and then oppress you. Our one weapon is the voter's card.
