Importance of the Preamble
1. It asserts the basic philosophy of the people of Kenya, and the principles, values and national laws to which Kenyans are committed.
2. Lays down the understanding that Kenyan people are one nation bound together by common ideas, historical origins and common experiences.
3. Recognizes the Supremacy of the Almighty God, honors the freedom heroes, and the ethnic, cultural and religious diversities.
4. Asserts essential values of human rights and democracy.
5. Asserts equity and freedom.
6. Asserts the fact that we enacted the constitution not only for ourselves but also for posterity.

Meaning of the Preamble for the Kenyan Person
1. Kenya is a state with different communities and religious groups which the law treats as equal.
2. That, in Kenya, our national identity is balanced with other personal and communal differences.
3. There are certain known values and principles that guide all Kenyans regardless of their position in society or the community which they belong to.
4. That our legal system including the promulgation of the constitution acknowledges facets of our history such as the existence of our independence freedom fighters and present-day reformers.
