How to save power.

Ever thought of life without electricity? Life without the internet, without the videos, without the phones? All the technology gone and gone for real?
It's impossible. The systems that generate this power use exhaustive fuels. The oil, the coals, and sometimes the running water.
In order to ensure we, actually, you, don't deplete the minimal available natural resources, you need to conserve energy. And, electricity for this case. So, can I show you how?

Step 1. Use energy saving electrical appliances.

Instead of using a 1000 watt electrical appliance, it would be very wise to use the 250 watt appliance instead. The incandescent bulbs for example, use up to 100 watts of voltage whereas an energy saving bulb can use up to 16 watts. Instead of using ten incandescent bulbs, use ten energy saver bulbs and a water heater or an electric stove, trust me, you''ll spare some trees that needs to be cut to provide you with charcoal. If you have time, don''t cook heat water using electricity. Use the sun. Some water on a basin will rise to a temperature of 30-40 degrees in two hours when exposed to hot sun. That is sufficient heat to warm your body as you bath.

Step 2. Switch off and unplug all electrical appliances that you are not using.

Sometimes I wonder why you can sleep and leave three incandescent bulbs on for more than 8 hours. The energy wasted in such an occasion is sufficient to run the tv for 2 days non stop. Please ensure you switch off the tv, the bulbs, the radio, the room heater, the stove, the computer, all of them.

Step 3. During electrical appliances purchase and installations, ensure that the personnel to do it are qualified and well experienced.

A faulty appliance wastes energy and money.
Buy your appliances

from original companies that even warrant it. Fake ones will be power hogs.

Step 4. Avoid using power, if you don't need it.

People living in rich houses/places are used to switching on the tv, the lights, the music and for sure they don't use it. Sometimes they even heat the showers, and pretty sure they won't take a bath. This is unnecessary wastage.
The best thing to do is. Use power if need be.

Step 5. Before leaving your house, turn off power.

I once forgot to switch off my bulb and was forced to travel for some few weeks and I forgot to turn off the room heater. When I returned, I found a bill worth KES. 9540 waiting to be paid. The most I had paid in years was KES. 2000.
I had to borrow some money to cover up for the bill. Wasted.
Before you leave the house, whether you are to return or not, switch off all the power supply and you'll be fine. That bathroom bulb can be a power hog if you forget about it. So be sure to cut down the whole power supply, in case you travel. Even for a single day. It's worth it.

In conclusion, together we can save some energy if we want. If we all decide to save energy in only 3 days, the money would be enough to feed the hungry Kenyans for a week or so. Don't waste. Someone once told me, "what you discard because you think is useless is a treasure to someone else".
