Amazon are well known for the vast array of e-books they have in their store and now they are well known for the Kindle Fire HD 7 inch tablet that has brought some fresh competition into the "tablet market". The question that usually dances on people's lips, "is it worth my money and can it make my user experience much more exciting?" The truth is, no gadget made on earth is perfect and not all meet the standards we always expect, but the truth also is, that they can come really close. Again, the question remains: does the Kindle Fire HD 7 inch tablet come really close?

When it comes to the display of this tablet, Amazon does a really good job. It has a pixel dimension of 1280x800. This grants it an aspect ratio of 16:10 which is the standard widescreen display. Kindle Fire HD comes in a glossy finish, but despite this, the user is still capable of reading in a well lit room as it is still bright enough. Amazon came up with an ingenious technic to fuse the LCD and the touch panels into a single glass sheet, so as to enhance clarity by avoiding the air gap that would be present between the panels. To reduce reflections, Amazon fitted a polarizing filter on the glass. This also happens to enhance viewing on the tablet in bright conditions and environments. So that you know that Amazon has done its job in the screen department, they fitted the screen with Gorilla glass so as to protect it against scratches.

Due to the pixels on the screen, text has good readability and is quite sharp. In addition, singular pixels are not easy to spot, in fact they are quite invisible if the device is held at the recommended reading distance of approximately 30 cm from the eyes. Just goes to say that one can have a good reading experience with the Kindle Fire HD.
The LCD backlighting does not cause eyestrain as one would expect it to - even despite using the tablet for long hours. This is good news for those who spend most of their time on their tablets. Besides being able to do some reading on this tablet, one can watch movies and videos with ease due to the clarity and also the due to fact that the screen's color doesn't alter when it is viewed from whatever angle - thanks to it being an IPS panel.

The Kindle Fire HD does not only offer great display capability, but also great audio. This, without a doubt backs up your viewing experience - in the even you are watching your favorite show or movie. It has Dolby stereo speakers, located at the back, under a black band which is covered by grills on the right and left. To ensure louder audio and great sound quality, each of these speakers contain dual drivers which further enhance the range of the sound. Watching movies on the Kindle Fire HD is a delight due to the sound clarity and quality.

When it comes to internet connectivity, the Kindle Fire HD does not disappoint. It has Wi-Fi connectivity with dual antennas and with dual bands. These improve the signal reception of the device, enabling easier and faster viewing of video content on sites like YouTube. This without a doubt means that surfing on the internet is not a problem and one can stream movies, series and shows at ease. You should know however, that YouTube is not pre-installed in the device, so that means you will have to get the app itself. Despite this, the user's internet experience will not be a disappointment.

Apart from all these features, Amazon's Kindle Fire HD 7 inch tablet comes in a sleek, yet simple design with a firm grip. It has a screen with black bezels and dark grey body making it a good-looking device. Underneath, it houses components that make the user's experience worth-while. It has a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, PowerVR GPU, 1GB RAM, gyroscope, light sensor, accelerometer and either a 16 GB or 32 GB storage capacity (note that there is not slot for an SD card and that means that once you run out of internal storage, then you will have to utilize Amazon Cloud Storage). This tablet also has a front camera which has a HD lens capable of taking photos at 720 pixel resolution.

So, if indeed, you must buy a Kindle Fire HD, then you could always think of these features and ask yourself, if it is indeed worth the money in your pocket.
