About Machakos University

This is a constituent college of Kenyatta university offering degree programs for self sponsored student and government sponsored students. It was started in October 2011. It was initially referred to as Machakos Technical Training Institute before the upgrade. The college offers different degree, diploma and certificate courses.
Machakos University College is comprised of the following schools and departments:
1. School of Business and Economics.
Under this school, we have the departments of business, entrepreneurship and management sciences as well as the department of economics.
2. School of Education.
The school of education is comprised of five departments. These departments offer various courses in the field of education. They are educational management and curriculum studies, educational psychology, educational foundations, early childhood education studies and special education.
3. School of Engineering and Technology.
This school is entrusted with providing quality theoretical and practical knowledge to students in various fields of engineering. Under this schools there departments of mechanical and manufacturing engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, building and civil engineering as well as computing and information technology.
4. School of Hospitality and Tourism Management
This school offers various courses which mold student to work in tourism industry, hotels and hospitality industry in general. The school is comprised of department of hospitality management and department of tourism management.
5. School of Pure and Applied Sciences.
This schools offers science and mathematics based courses to students. Departments under this school include physical sciences, biological sciences as well as mathematics and statistics.
6. School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Various certificate, diploma and degree courses are offered under this schools. It is comprised of department of linguistics and languages, department of social sciences, department of humanities and department of fashion, design and marketing.
7. School of Agriculture and Natural Resources Management.
The schools offers agriculture related courses and programmes on natural resources management. It is comprised of department of agriculture, department of agribusiness management, department of food science and technology, department of environmental sciences, department of environmental planning and management and department of mining sciences.
Machakos University College is comprised of two campuses namely:
1. Main Campus.
Location: Along Machakos-Makueni road and half a kilometer from Machakos town center.
2. Mlolongo Campus.
This campus is located in Mlolongo town, along Nairobi-Machakos road.
