Pharaoh thought that if he let them go to the wilderness they would not came back to Egypt.
He also said that work that was ongoing would be stopped hence he couldn't let them go.
He clearly did not support the God that they were going to worship.
His heart was filled with pride to a point he couldn't listen to the messenger sent to him by God.
