a) In diffusion molecules move from a highly concentration region to a lowly concentration region, while in active transport molecules move from a lowly concentration region to a highly concentration region

ii) In diffusion molecules move along concentrated gradient while in active transport molecules move against concentration gradient

iii) No energy is required in diffusion while energy is required in active transport

b) i)- Absorption of water from the soil by root hair cells

- Movement of water between plant cells or from cell to cell;

- Support in herbaceous plants due to turgidity of cells
