a. i.) If a plant cells is placed in strong salt solution it will lose water by osmosis and it will become flaccid.

ii.) If a plant cell is placed in distilled water it will become turgid and the presence of the cell wall prevents it from bursting.

b. i.) If a red blood cell is kept in distilled it will burst because water moves from a high water concentration outside the cell to a low water concentration inside the cell.

ii.) If a red blood cell is kept in a concentrated salt solution it will shrink in size due to osmotic pressure differences until it reaches a favourable size.
