a)A nursery is a place where seedlings are propagated,managed and grown to a plantable size.

b)Seeds are grown on small areas where maximum care is given at lower costs.
>Valuable and very small seeds can be raised effectively without any wastage
>Uniform crop stand in the main field can be maintained by selecting healthy, uniform and vigorous seedlings in the nursery itself.
>The nursery planting materials are readily available when needed.
>It assures the production of genetically improved quality planting material.
>Crop grown by nursery raising is quite early and fetch higher price in the market, so economically more profitable.
>More time is available for the preparation of main field because nursery is grown separately.
>It provides employment opportunities for technical, skilled, semi-skilled, unskilled labor.

c)i)Topography: The area for tree nursery establishment is preferably flat with a gentle slope to allow for drainage.
ii)Location: Should be located near the planting site to minimize injury in handling and during transportation
>It must be easily accessible to facilitate nursery field operations and supervision.
>Area should be well protected from animals and have sufficient sunlight.
iii)Soils: Area should be well drained, and free from water logging. Areas with too much clay or sand should be avoided
iv)Water: Site should be near a reliable source of clean water
v)Labour availability
