(a) State and explain what would be observed on the galvanometer immediately the switch S is closed.
(b) State with reason the difference that would be noted in the observation made in question (a) if the number of turns in coils Q were doubled.

(a) The galvanometer deflects momentarily. The changing magnetic flux in coil P is linked to coil Q causing an e.m.f to be induced.

(b) The Galvanometer deflection increases. When the number of turns is doubled the magnetic flux linkage also doubles.
