1. One should have genuine reasons before he or she declares a Jihad on any group of people or
country.

2. Jihad helps Muslims to be able to maintain and secure their rights which otherwise be trampled upon.

3. Patience should be observed during fighting. The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said that when Muslims face their enemies then they should be patient.

4. Jihad must be done as a last resort. The prophet would avoid battles and engage in them only after other means had failed.

5. There must be assurance of availability of equipment before one engages in any battle. This is significant because equipment make sure that the fighters are safe and promise victory.

6. Prisoners of war should be treated with kindness and in case the enemy country wants to rescuer them, it should be allowed by paying a ransom.

7. In case the enemy requests to surrender, it should be accepted.

8. Jihad always measures Muslims obedience to the prophet. This is time especially when the Muslims disobeyed the prophet at the battle of Uhud and the reason why they were defeated.

9. Jihad acts as a lesson through which Muslims would learn some issues for future use for instance the position of women in Islam, the possible death of the prophet, the act of hypocrisy among others can all be traced back in Jihads.

10. Jihad that is done through the use of one’s wealth helps propagate the message of Islam and also helps in alleviating the conditions of the poor and the needy.

11. Jihad Nafsi helps in consolidating of one’s faith through an individual checking on his or her behaviour in relation to Islam.
