Etiology
Roundworms like; Haemonchus, trichostronglus, oesophagostomum (pimply gut worm), cooperia, bunostomum, dictyocalus viviparous (cattle lungworm), thelazia (cattle eye worm), toxocara

Species affected
Sheep, goat, cattle, camels

Transmission
The nematodes of importance lay eggs in the gut which pass out with the animals dung and develop into infectious stages (larvae) in the pasture. Animals become infected during grazing by swallowing them

Pathogenesis
Some attach on intestinal wall causing enteritis and subsequent diarrhea, some like oesophagostomum burrow into intestinal wall leading to nodules formation on intestines (pimply guts)

Diarrhoea
anaemia
emaciation
edema

Diagnosis
-clinical signs
-By fecal egg or larval counts from live animals.
-Post mortem, worms can be counted in the abomasum, intestine, lungs and liver

Treatment and control
Regular deworming, good pasture management
