(i) God called Abraham in Haran after the death of his father.
(ii) He commanded Abraham who was 75 years old then to leave with his family, from Haran and go to an unknown land.
(iii) God made the following promises to him:
A great nation, many blessings, curse those who curse him, blessing to those who bless him, a great name and a source of blessings.
(iv) Abraham obeyed and set off for the unknown land together with his wife, nephew Lot, servants and his flock.
(v) In Canaan God appeared to him at Bethel and Schechem where he was shown the land that would belong t his descendants.
(vi) Abraham built two altars at the two places and worshipped God.
