Depository institutions: there are deposit taking financial institutions. Examples are commercial banks, non bank financial institutions such as savings and loan institutions and credit unions
Contractual savings institutions: they are specialized financial institutions where the client remits money as agreed between him and the institutions for a special course and later receives the money under certain terms and conditions. Examples are life insurance companies, causality insurance companies and pension funds
Investment intermediaries: they are institutions that mobilize funds for investment purposes. Examples are financial companies and mutual funds
