-Auger bit is held firmly against the edge of the bench with the screw pointing up.

- the inside of the spurs is then filled until it forms a knife- like edge.

- The filling is done across the complete inside face of the spur rather than just on the leading edge.

- The bit is re positioned and the opposite spur filled in the same manner
