Explain the process of electing the Speaker of the National Assembly.

1. If the Speaker is an elected MP then his or her seat is declared vacant

2. Swearing in ceremony is then conducted for the elected speaker

3. One qualifies to be elected the speaker if he is eligible to contest and vote in elections

4. A date is set for the election at the start of a new parliament after the general election

5. The candidates is proposed and seconded by Members of Parliament

6. If more than one name is presented, the members vote through secrete ballot.

1. A person qualifies to be elected speaker to the National Assembly if he/she is eligible to contest and vote in elections
2. A date is set for the election of the speaker at the start of a new Parliament/after general elections.
3. The candidate is proposed and seconded by a member of Parliament
4. If more than one name is presented then members vote through secret ballot. If one person/name is proposed and seconded then the person I declared speaker without election
5. A swearing-in-ceremony is then conducted for the elected speaker
6. If the speaker is an elected member of parliament, then his/her seat is declared vacant.
