1. The Basic Education Act was enacted on 25th January 2013 with aim of giving effect articles 53 of the constitution of Kenya 2010.
2. The Act is aimed at promoting and regulating free and compulsory education ,registration, governance and management of Institution of Basic education
3. It is also aimed at providing for establishment of the national Education board, the educations standard and Quality Assurance Commission and County Education Board and for connected purposes. This act repeals the education act and the board of Education Act.
