and also do away with cultural practices that discourage the intake of certain foods.

3. The government has health policies that help in protecting mothers and children. Iron
and folic acid supplements are given to pregnant mothers during ante natal visits.
4. Malaria control through provision of treated mosquito bed nets to pregnant mothers and
children under five years in health facilities especially in malaria prone areas.
5. Deworming of children to curb hookworm infestation.
6. Fortification of food with iron.
