Effects of the development of private property within the pre-capitalist economic system

Answers

Faith
The development of private property within the pre-capitalist economic
system had other far-reaching effects. These effects were witnessed at varying times in
different parts of Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas. Some of these effects include:
1) The disintegration of the clan system.
2) Individual accumulation of goods began evolving e.g. Elders, war chiefs or
priests in the clan or community began exploiting their positions for personal
gain through the appropriation of communal labour and property to enrich
themselves.
3) Clan leaders used the new defensive weapons and fighters to defend their own
property and interests.
4) As a result of the above developments, the majority of clansmen became
impoverished economically and in turn became dependent on the rich and
noble chiefs.
