• Members of the communities especially children can be denied food for sometime so as not to
repeat wrong.
• Beating/whipping/canning/pinching for children when they disobey older people/wife beating if
wives disobey the
husband.
• Payment of fine in form of bull/goat/sheep/beer as compensation to the clan/family/parents.
• Defaming a person through songs that are composed to ridicule him/her.
• By being given unpleasant nicknames which reflected the wrong the person has done.
• Sometimes relatives refuse to name their children after errant members.
• An errant member can be summoned to appear before the council of elders /age group/clan
elders.
