By definition, a crash diet is a diet which employs extreme methods aimed to achieve instant weight loss.Usually, the period for such a diet is from a few days to a week. These diets are characterized by close to total withdrawal of foods with high calorie intake.Crash diets may include: vegetable soups, proteins and water.

Crash diets are harmful to the body.These diets are close to outright starvation which exposes the body to illness.In addition, this is only a temporary solution.The body soon starts to crave for food, and as soon as one begins to eat regularly, the weight that was lost is gained back.

Nutritionists advice that losing weight should not be done with solutions that promise drastic results in a very short period of time. There are several solutions and methods to achieve your goal.These include:

Firstly,develop a culture of taking water.Start drinking more water often. The recommended amount is six to eight glasses per day.Water helps to prevent dehydration and flushes out harmful toxins from the body.Also avoid taking carbonated drinks such as sodas.

Secondly, consult a nutritionist to help you adjust to new eating habits. Losing weight requires total lifestyle change even in our diets.This ensures that you don't starve yourself.

Thirdly, make it a habit to exercise daily. This could entail taking a walk to work in the morning, a spa slimming treatment or perhaps thirty minutes in the gym.

Lastly, always eat breakfast. Eating breakfast helps alleviate poor diet choices and unplanned cravings for food

especially in the later part of the day. In addition, taking a healthy and well-balanced breakfast boosts the body''s metabolism.
