ii)The buying price of a 90kg bag of maize was ksh 1,500.The trader paid ksh 2,500 per trip to transport the maize to the market. He sold the maize and made a profit of 26%.Calculate the selling price of each bag of the maize.

Text Answer

a)Calculate the total mass lost after the maize was dried.
Mass of 540 bags = 540 x 112 = 60,480kg

πŸπŸ“ π’™πŸ”πŸŽπŸ’πŸ–πŸŽ16= 56700kg
Mass lost = 60480 -56700 = 3780kg

b)A trader bought and repacked the dried maize in 90kg bags.He transported the maize in a lorry which could carry a maximum of 120 bags per trip.
i)Determine the number of the trips the lorry made.
Number of 90kg bags = 56700Γ·πŸ—πŸŽ = 630
Number of trips = 630Γ· 120 = 5.25
6 trips (No a quarter trip)
ii)The buying price of a 90kg bag of maize was ksh 1,500.The trader paid ksh 2,500 per trip to transport the maize to the market. He sold the maize and made a profit of 26%.Calculate the selling price of each bag of the maize.
Total cost incurred by the trader = 630bags x sh 1500 = sh 945,000
Transport cost = 6trips x sh 2500 = 15000
945,000 +15000 = 960,000
Profit is 26%
Therefore the selling price is 126% of the total cost
126% x 960,0000 = 1,209,600
Cost per bag =1209600Γ·πŸ”πŸ‘πŸŽ =sh 1920
