The Career and College Readiness Course
This is an online transitional course for youth leaving high school into life after high school. It is a guide to help them explore various post high school options available to them in the community. Benchmarked on best practices of career guidance, the course imparts skills to navigate that turbulent stage of transition.
Course outcomes
1. Smoother transition into life after high school with knowledge of options open and aligned to each person.
2. Youth energy directed into their areas of interest, passion, aspiration and dreams.
3. Youth happier and more productive who are likely to positively contribute to nation building.
4. Improved youth employability
5. Improved youth access to post-secondary education from the lowest level of artisan to degree with clear progression and pathways.
6. Improved youths’ ability to advocate about their interests and skills
7. Improved youth ability to document their skills necessary for trade certification based on recognition of prior learning.
8. Youth receive up to date career information.
Target Audience
a. Students who finished high school in the last 5 years and are still struggling with what to do
b. Those aspiring to join career tracks or world of work directly after form 4.
c. Youth who have never received any career guidance and would like to make a fresh start
d. Youth who may have dropped from high school and are looking for something to do
e. All pre-college and university students before enrolling to tertiary level
f. Youth living with special needs who have insufficient career information on careers for different types of special needs.
