OCR is used to read alphabetical characters,numbers or any special characters or object that are either handwritten, typed or computer printed from the source document into machine understandable form.
OMR on the other hand is used to read certain marks such as a crosses,ticks ,shading or a dot made on a pre-printed on a source document into computer understandable form.
