(i)To open an existing document,select open from the file menu.In the open dialog box,Navigate to the file to be opened.This could be in a portable medium or your computer hard disk.Finally double click on the files icon.

(ii)To create a new document,select new from the file menu.You can also use a keyboard short cut key by pressing Ctrl + N key simultaneously or click new blank document on the standard toolbar.
