The difference between the strand and sub strand as used in the pre- primary school curriculum is that the strand is the main topic while the sub strand is the subtopic. In the old curriculum, the strand was previously known as the topic while the sub strand was previously known as the sub topic. You can have many sub strands from the strand. Example in the learning area mathematics activities there is the first strand known as numbers and its sub strand are number concepts sub strand and whole numbers sub strand.
