Give that the density of liquid A is 800 kgm-3 and that of liquid B is 1000 kgm-3, determine the:
(i) Weight of liquid A displaced
(ii) Weight of liquid B displaced.

Answers

John
(i) Velocity of A displaced = 6.0 x 12 cm3

Mass of A displaced = density x volume = 12 x 10-6 x 800 = 0.0096 kg

Weight of A displaced = mass x gravity = 0.0096 x 10 = 0.096 N

(ii) Volume of B displaced = 6.0 x 3 = 18 cm3

Weight of B displaced = v x density x gravity

= 18 x 10-6 x 1000 x 10 = 0.18 N
