(i) Some are located in areas of low temperatures resulting in less rate of evaporation.

(ii) They have surface outlets through which excess salt deposits are carried away.

(iii) Some are situated in areas of high rainfall which keeps the water fresh.

(iv) Some have underground outlets that drain salts that may accumulate in the lake beds.

(v) The lakes have regular inflow of fresh water from rivers, which dilutes the salts keeping the water fresh.
