1. Terraces are a serves of wide steps on steep slopes. They control soil erosion by reducing the slope therefore the speed of running water.

2. Shelter belts. This is where hedges of trees are planted around individual plots. The hedges acts as wind breakers or barriers. They also hold the soil that could be carried away by water.

3. Brush wood barrier. These are stone walls/ gabions constructed across gullies to help trap the soil
