a) The presence of a narrow continental shelf limits the growth of plankton along the East African coast which are vital for the development of marine fisheries.
b) There is low demand for sea fish compared to freshwater fish among the East African population.
c) The East African coast is mainly regular. This means there are inadequate sea inlets to provide good sheltered areas for fish breading.
d) The East African countries do not have sufficient capital for buying modern equipment that is required for marine Fishing.
